Lights! Roll Camera! Actions!

Indian Cinema recently completed it's100 years and present day actors paid tribute to all the legendary actors who graced the silver screen. From birth, these actors and actresses are the trend setters. What they wear, the thinking of the characters they portray, the message they give have had a strong impact not only on the youth but has proven as a strong adrenaline for older souls as well.

From Mother India to PK, through the lanes of Guide, village of Sholay, fields of DDLJ and The attack of 26/11; Indian cinema has captured the change of society way too perfectly. Portrayal of pre-interdependence scenarios somehow tried to show the ones born independently, the so called 'developing' India as a colony. The immortal love stories have been vividly engraved in memories, often phrased along with Shakespeare's Romeo-Juliet in a manner of speaking. Cinemas like Ra-One, which deserves a special mention, brought in the use of VFX to the extent that incorporated animations were at par with reality. Such attempts pave the way for future improvements and helps the industry create cinemas so realistic that the spectator leave the screen spellbound by the seemingly un-real scenes.

Indian actors have received great accolades all over the globe with many of our actors being among the richest among all, across continents. Many a times, actors with indispensable talent represent a character of South Asian backdrop in Hollywood movies, and often the top-of-the-chains aren't the only one's who relish this honour. With the growth of cinema from Just-moving pictures to today's 3D visuals and SRS audio, the music industry has grown to a distinct level and is still growing, improving hour by hour. Every other day, the music enthusiasts derive the pleasure of listening to great compositions created by newbie or legendary lyricists, music director, music band and sung by artists of experience from null to a tonne.

The Silver screen industry attracts millions of talented young aspirants but only a few get sorted out and the rest either change the track or struggle sufficiently to gain small roles that receive galore more than the stars, often leading to substantial roles in the future.

For some Sholay has been the top notch, some grace Aradhana while some oodle over DDLJ, some cry over Anand, some heart the Guide. On a personal note, Mera Nam Joker has been on a grandeur place in heart; a movie released some 23 years prior to my existence. Going off the tune, a scene where the protagonist's mother dies while watching him perform in a circus yet he continues to perform crying and screaming for his mother while the audience rolls laughing out their lungs; cracks my heart into shreds and breaks the dam of tears. 'Joker girta bhi hai hasane k liye, Rota bhi hasane k liye.....'

With positive and negative criticism, Bollywood continues to grow. Although a 100 years old, it's still a new-born and it will always stay as such. Indian Cinema would continue to top the worldwide charts of audience views and releases per annum. It would continue to rule the heart of millions. And while doing so, it would occasionally sneak in an Oscar or two, furthermore adding a feather in its cap.

P.S.: Long live Indian Cinema. Long live to all who work behind the camera to bring out a piece of art that reach a million hearts.

P.P.S.: A tribute to all the legends who have contributed to Indian Cinema, as cast or crew, but are no longer as part of us.
A bouquet of thanks to all who still put in their sweat and blood into the 150 minute roll.
